MEP MODELING & COORDINATION - MIXED USE BUILDING

Scope & Procedure

We were required to do the Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and electrical modeling and coordination inter and intradisciplinary for the mixed-use building project in the USA with a built-up area of 350000 square feet. We have received the structural and architectural model in Revit & Navisworks along with 2D cad drawings and pdf for  MEPF.  We have generated the LOD 350 MEPF model in Revit and coordinated the entire model in Navisworks and run the clash tests. within MEPF and with structural and architectural model.  Based on the clash report i.e HVAC vs structure, HVAC vs plumbing, HVAC vs fire, HVAC vs mechanical piping, etc. the clash reports were prepared in a specific format as per client requirement to communicate the clashes. Upon receiving the clash resolution guideline, we change the Revit model accordingly and re-run the clash test until the time model is 100 percent clash free. The clash tests were performed area and level wise as per the requirement of the client. Once the model was clash free and accepted by the client, we have produced the shop drawings for HVAC, plumbing, mechanical piping, fire and electrical.

Challenges

The core challenge for this project was to deliver the project on time. Total of 4 BIM engineers was deployed for this project. Our well-experienced team performed well to overcome the challenges and delivered the modeling part on time. The coordination was another challenge as it was necessary to communicate with multiple stakeholders and get daily inputs from them to resolve the clashes until the time the MEP BIM model is 100% clash free.

Business Model

The client was looking for MEP BIM modeling and coordination. We have deployed a team of 4 mechanical engineers and 1 quality checker to ensure quality and on-time delivery. The project was delivered on the basis of fixed lump sum fees.
